IHG announced last week that it’s introducing a program to let guests check in and check out using mobile devices, plus receive confirmation of arrival times and texts when the room is ready.

The brand is offering the service initially to IHG Rewards Club members in the Americas region, who can access the features via the IHG app — and it plans to roll out the services globally over time.

Other new features include Mobile Folio, which allows guests to “view their hotel bill in real time on their mobile device, before receiving their final bill during Mobile Check Out,” and IHG Guest Request, a program currently on trial that lets guests make requests via the app and track employee responses.

Mobile room key technology is still in the “testing” phase for the brand, but that may arrive soon. In the meantime, if you’re itching to use your Apple Watch for something, the IHG Translator app, which lets you, say, figure out how to add fries to that in Mandarin, is available wrist-side.
