Norwegian Star Cruise Ship Gains Brand-New Bars & Complimentary Dining Venues
The first at-sea Jimmy Buffet Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar is open for business onboard Norwegian Star.

The Star, which just returned to service after a two-week dry dock as part of Norwegian Cruise Line's NEXT program. The cruise line also has dropped the cover charge for the ship's Asian fusion restaurant, Ginza.
Originally announced as debuting on the upcoming Norwegian Escape, the Margaritaville-inspired Five O'Clock Somewhere Bar, Deck 7 aft, features signature margaritas and live music nightly onboard Star. The Five O'Clock Somewhere Bar will be located portside, and replaces the Red Lion Pub.
Ginza, formerly $15 per person, is now a complimentary dining venue. In addition to dishes from the a Noodle Bar, the restaurant will serve special a la carte items including a custom sushi and sashimi menu and Japanese Hot Rock Ishiyaki, for an additional fee. Also a first for the cruise line, Ginza will feature a moving sushi belt offering a choice of four specialty rolls.
Among the other enhancements, Norwegian Cruise Line retrofitted Star with the popular pub O'Sheehan's, 24-hour complimentary restaurant. Other changes included moving Moderno Churrascaria, the Brazilian-style steakhouse, to Deck 13 and the addition of an adjacent Sugarcane Mojito Bar.
Other shipwide enhancements include digital touch-screen signage; updates to the casino, photo gallery, pool deck and galley areas; window replacements; and new carpeting and flooring in passenger areas.
Norwegian also made a number of technical upgrades to the ship while in dry dock, including new silicone paint on the hull, along with an Azipod hydrodynamic upgrade to reduce fuel emissions and energy consumption.
Safety updates include a lifeboat and tender boat release systems upgrade; thrusters and stabilizer maintenance; and ballast and bilge piping replacement.
Norwegian Star returned to service March 17 and will spend the summer season sailing seven- to 14-night itineraries from Copenhagen throughout the Baltics and Norwegian fjords.
